Chapter 4
Chris woke up Saturday morning not really wanting to go into the office, which was unusual. He liked his business. He liked his life. He actually did like selling insurance, but it was becoming clearer to him that something was missing.
He had dreamt last night about Rohan, which meant that he woke up with a raging hard on. In the dream, he kept trying to give Rohan a blow job. He would get his mouth an inch away from Rohan’s cock, and then either he or Rohan would move a few feet away. He just could not get his mouth around Rohan, but he wanted so much to do so.
Chris jacked off before getting out of bed. Then he jacked off in the shower to visions of sucking Rohan’s cock. He remembered what it looked like from twenty years ago. How could he forget the pattern of veins scattered around its light brown skin? Even if his dreams wouldn’t let him suck Rohan’s cock, his fantasies while awake let him wrap his lips around the shaft.
Despite his lack of desire to get to work, he got himself there. He even remembered to put gel in his hair the way Rohan told him to. He spent the day selling policies and answering questions. His brother Dave called in the middle of the afternoon.
“Got your message, dude,” Dave said. “What’s going on?”
Chris had calmed down significantly from yesterday. The fact that his mother knew he was gay wasn’t bothering him as much. Maybe Amy was right. Maybe Mom just knew.
“I was upset because I thought you told Mom I was gay,” said Chris. “But I don’t care if you did or not.”
“Dude, she told me years before you did,” Dave said. “I just pretended that I didn’t know when you told me because I didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”
Chris felt positively sheepish. “Am I that obvious? I didn’t want to be obvious.”
“Look, you don’t swish or prance, if that’s what you’re worried about, but I would still love you if you did,” said Dave. “Look, you took the most beautiful girl in high school to senior prom, and you didn’t even kiss her. Your family loves you, and we love you just the way you are, and I’m going to give you the same advice you gave me when I was feeling doubts about marrying my girlfriend. You told me to go after what I wanted and what would make me happy. You told me not to be afraid even if it turned out to be the worst mistake I ever made.”
“I said that?”
“Yeah, you did. It’s time you started following your own advice,” said Dave. “And let’s have lunch soon. We clearly have more catching up to do.”
They said their goodbyes, and Chris spent the rest of the day responding to customers.
Maddy came in on a break around four o’clock, eyeing his freshly cut hair and trimmed beard and mustache.
“Who cut your hair?” she whined. “You cheated on me! Admit it.
